“…the idea behind this blog is that I’m effectively the guinea pig, sharing my own experiences whilst I research and try and test all kinds of ways to re-energize myself through having fun….”
Welcome to my blog!
This almost acts as my first post because I want to explain a bit about my background so that you understand the motivation behind my blog and behind this ‘experiment’!
Ever since I was a teenager I’ve been tired! Which is crazy, considering I should have actually been at my most energetic. Napping throughout my university years got me through and I had a good spell just after whilst I worked full time and danced in my free time.
Shortly after travelling a year or so later, my immune system became compromised and I couldn’t function normally, I felt hollow like the stuffing had been knocked out of me. After 6 months of tests and uncertainty, my doctor diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) which is similar to M.E. with some differing symptoms. It turned my life upside down and there were various times when I struggled heavily with it. For more information about the illness, you can visit https://www.meassociation.org.uk/about/what-is-mecfs/
Six years later, I found out about a therapy / training called The Lightning Process® and I decided to take part. After a 3 day course, I felt a transformation in my energy through the skills I had learnt and the most amazing thing is that I was doing it myself. No tablets, no reliance on a doctor, it was down to me. The skills I learnt through their programme is something I’ll want to touch on in this blog* and they have helped me not only with my recovery but with various difficulties in my life since then. I’ve now been working full time for a year and a half which was something I actually dreamed of. Yes, you read that right!
This blog however is not only for people who have had CFS/M.E. I consider myself to be mostly recovered, but my immune system still isn’t strong and whilst it’s on a superficial level, I’m often tired and run down! I lack the bounce and inner energy that I’d love to have so much. I don’t feel like I’m at my full potential.
Then I realised I’m definitely not the only woman who is often knackered! Women tend to experience tiredness much more than men anyway, but I’m now 34 and thinking that NOW is the time I should be full of beans; why are all of us so tired? I don’t even have children! In the last 2 years I have learnt about and tried out the following:
Very healthy diet
Probiotics / Kefir
High quality Vitamins
Lots of water
I don’t accept that your genetics is your lot. I do accept that we all need to live within our means and our limits but I’m determined to find more ways to become energetic again. This is difficult for people with chronic illness and I don’t expect for one minute that what I try out in my energy seeking experiment will solve this. However my focus is also on our happiness and the idea behind this blog is that I’m effectively the guinea pig, sharing my own experiences whilst I research and try and test all kinds of ways to re-energize myself through having fun. My aim is to find a way to fit this in to everyday life and for it to be sustainable so that it’s there to fall back on when life gets hard.
As an extra test, here in the UK we are going into winter so this is an added challenge for me! Hopefully off the back of my own adventures, you will also find ways too of feeling energized and strong. If you do, please share them with me, it’ll make both of us happy!
