… and it can feel so shit when you’re constantly on 1% right?
I’ve been really excited to write another post since I started with the last one. It feels good and it’s already energizing me just thinking about what to share with you and the hope that you might benefit from this too! I want to explain a bit about how I got to this point right now. For those of you like me who often scan-read, you might not have seen the ‘what this blog is about’ section. For those of you who did, you are more patient than me!
I had Chronic Fatigue syndrome (also known as M.E) for 6 years and tried all sorts to recover even though there isn’t a known cure. I heard about something called The Lightning Process ® and a good friend told me about her experience so I decided to try it out. (This post isn’t only for people with CFS but for everyone.)
The Lightning Process in short, is a “training course that focuses on the science behind how the brain and body interact; it gives you powerful tools to use this brain-body link to influence your health and life. Using mental exercises and a lot of consistent practice, you can change the way your nervous system works, actively using neurological pathways which promote health and switching off ones which aren’t so good for you” *
It also includes the idea of NEUROPLASTICITY which for me changed everything. “Neuroplasticity is the ‘muscle building’ part of the brain; the things we do often, we become stronger at, and what we don’t use fades away. That is the physical basis of why making a thought or action over and over again increases its power. Over time, it becomes automatic.”**
An example of this would be being able to tie our shoe laces without even looking. Our brain learns over consistent use of the same pathway that this is something we want to do often and our brains want to be efficient, so it makes the pathway stronger and the signals to our hands to tie the laces, ever quicker.
As part of the training, I used this concept to strengthen the positive pathways and weaken the negative ones in my own mind. Our brains are like elastic and by using the training I’d learnt, I was actually changing the physiology and structure of my brain for positive effect. It was mind blowing!
The weeks following my Lightning Process experience were unbelievable. My friends and family felt concerned in case I’d crash and burn but because I was controlling this recovery myself, through my own effort and practice, I had real faith in my ability to sustain the change. I took some time to enjoy it and to enjoy being “normal” again!! As mad as it might seem, one of my dreams was to be able to work full time and I started working full time 3 months later and haven’t looked back. I also wanted to finally enjoy a relationship with someone and have the energy for them as well as myself. Whilst he didn’t turn out to be right for me, I realised that I am capable of it.
It’s important to explain though that my full recovery is still a work in progress 2 years on. I have had a close relapse earlier this year and have struggled through winters. I feel rundown often, no matter the season, and I do feel like I could be a lot stronger. This is what has got me interested in energy.
In the next blog, I’ll go into depth a lot more about a particular routine that I’ve felt really positive effects from. Olympic athletes even use it! It’s easy and free and something that might help you too. Talking about it will also be a good reminder for me to use it more! Sometimes I feel lazy you know? It takes work, but I really think it’ll be worth it.
Now you know more about my background, it’ll make sense to you when I explore certain routes to find more energy, sometimes based on what I’ve already learnt. I’ll share all the new stuff I find out as I go along and I guess this means I’m ready to start the experiment, which I’ll do in my next post!!
Share your thoughts with me, tell me what helps you! Keep an eye on the Instagram account and feel free to comment there too. Have a good week everyone x
